When your child’s teacher gently says, “I think he might need extra time on tests,” or you notice her spending an hour on homework that should take twenty minutes, it plants a seed of worry that doesn’t go away.

That’s where most Centurion families are when they first call me.

Most parents I meet have been carrying that worry for months, wondering if they’re overreacting. You’re not. If your child’s struggle is showing up at home or at school, it’s worth understanding. That’s the whole point of this page: to help you decide, without pressure, whether a conversation with me is the right next step.

Signs to look for

Is this about your child?

Families across Centurion usually reach me after months of small signals at home and school. If any of these feel familiar, a conversation is worth ten minutes:

  • Homework takes an hour when it should take twenty minutes
  • The teacher mentions focus, effort, or 'not reaching potential'
  • Reading still feels like a battle well into the school years
  • Report cards say 'could do better' but nobody can say why
  • Your child calls themselves stupid, or dreads school mornings

How it works

What happens at a first assessment

Most parents I meet are nervous about the unknown: what the assessment involves, whether their child will be upset, how long it takes. Here's what actually happens.

  1. We start with a conversation

A quick call or message, at a time that fits between school and work. You tell me what you're seeing, I ask a few questions, and I tell you honestly whether an assessment is the right next step.

  2. History, on paper and in person

Before I meet your child, I meet you. We go through development, school reports, and what the teachers are noticing, so the assessment is informed rather than generic.

  3. Sessions built around your child

Testing happens in short, playful sessions, usually one to two hours. Centurion schedules flex around the school day, including early evening slots.

  4. Findings, in plain language

Once the scoring is done we meet without the children, and I explain the results the way I'd explain them to a friend: what's strong, what's hard, and what to do next.

  5. A report that opens doors

You leave with a written report that schools and specialists accept, ready to use for classroom support or exam concession applications where relevant.

Who I am

The person behind the practice

I opened the Centurion practice because Gauteng families needed thorough assessments and support without city-centre waiting lists. It has grown into a full-service practice: everything from school readiness checks to exam concession documentation happens here in Rooihuiskraal, easy to reach from anywhere in Centurion. Families from Midstream to Pretoria East use it because it is focused, warm, and quick to get to.

The practice

A place that puts children at ease

23 Petrel Rd, Rooihuiskraal, Centurion, 0157.

I designed the space with children in mind. It's warm, quiet, and not at all clinical. The assessment and therapy rooms feel more like a comfortable lounge than a doctor's office, because nobody opens up or does their best thinking on edge.

Safe off-street parking means you're not circling the block, and I schedule sessions so you're not sitting in a waiting room for long. I know you're likely fitting this around a school pick-up or rushing back to work.

Afternoon and early evening appointments are available.

Where I work

Areas I serve from Centurion

I work with families throughout Centurion and the wider Tshwane area. In a typical week I see children from Wierdapark, Lyttelton, Eldoraigne, Highveld, Rooihuiskraal, Thatchfield, The Reeds, and Zwartkop, as well as Irene, Midstream, and Midrand. Families from Pretoria East (Menlyn, Faerie Glen, Garsfontein) often choose this location because it's quicker than heading into the city.

If your area isn’t listed, reach out anyway. I’ll tell you honestly whether this practice makes sense for you.
